Principal agricultural officer R Veenarani visiting Muhammad's farm land

Cherkkala: Muhammad, a herald of organic farming from Kasaragod’s Ariyapady, has become the best farmer in the district.

For three decades, agriculture is part of Muhammad’s life. He had his baby steps in farming at the age of 10. Now he is 45 and is satisfied with the occupation that he is in. It is the sole source of income for the family. His family members too support him and the new accolade in a way is an acknowledgement of their efforts too.

Muhammad relies on organic warming and has been successful in getting good yields from the lands he has taken for lease. He preserves indigenous seed varieties and is involved in both paddy and vegetable cultivation on a rotational basis.

Principal agricultural officer R Veenarani visited his farmland and appreciated his efforts. The award-giving ceremony has been scheduled for Monday.
