Thiruvananthapuram: AA Rahim MP, who had requested to bestow ‘useful presentations’ in functions, was astounded when he arrived for a programme at Manikkal in Thiruvananthapuram. Several organisations based in Manikkal presented over 2000 umbrellas for the MP. These umbrellas will be distributed among the students of government schools here.
While addressing a similar function before, AA Rahim had requested to avoid giving him golden shawl, bouquet or memento as a token of appreciation. Instead, he suggested to give him umbrellas, in view of the school reopening during monsoon.
The umbrellas were gifted by Saint Johns Medical Village, Samanwaya cultural centre and library and Saraswathi mandiram library together. Apart from them, a homemaker alone contributed 100 umbrellas to the event. The office bearers of the event Father Jose Kizhakkedath and Adv R Anil informed that those 100 umbrellas will be gifted to the children in government school of Manikkal.
