Kochi: The Lakshadweep administration has directed to demolish buildings situated close to the seashore of the island.

The administration ordered to demolish all buildings which are located within 20 metres from the shore. Several building owners in Kavaratti and other islands have been served notice in this regard.

The property owners are directed to file complaints or to produce documents, if any, in the concerned departments within June 30. The owners are warned that the buildings will be demolished by the administration, if they failed to produce documents.

The islanders were served notice as part of strictly implementing Integrated Island Management Plan in Lakshadweep. The notification in this regard was issued in 2015 and was published in 2016. These plans are being implemented now.
