Kochi: A plus two student was caught by the police while he was riding scooter. The Motor Vehicle Department slapped a fine of Rs 25,000 on the boy's uncle. The boy informed the police that he was going to buy milk.
Enforcement RTO G Ananthakrishnan has formed a special squad to find the underaged drivers on account of the death of a 16-year-old boy in an accident at Kalamassery the other day. Following this, the police intensified checking at Kummenchery junction.
During the checking, the 17-year-old boy was spotted riding a scooter. Police called the boy’s uncle as the scooter was registered in his name and slapped a fine of Rs 25,000 on him. According to Juvenile Justice law, a case will be registered against the boy too, informed the MVD officers.
MVD has also decided to ban the boy from getting a licence till the age of 25. The squad included Motor Vehicle Inspector Bijoy Peter, Assistant Vehicle Inspectors CN Gumudesh and TS Sajith.
