Perinthalmanna: Evoked by the spike in deaths and accidents due to plying of buses with open doors, enforcement wing of Malappuram RTO has decided to intervene. According to enforcement RTO KK Suresh, the wing will intensify inspection from December 16.

Notably, the practice of plying buses with open doors have recently claimed five lives in the district. Similarly, there were instances where individuals were seriously injured. Some who had a narrow escape from death are reportedly bedridden.

The complaints over this practise have even reached the chief minister. The move to clampdown comes amid this. Strangely, in spite of having doors including driver-operated hydraulic doors, some are continuing the practice.

"This cannot be entertained. If such violations are seen, stringent measures including cancellation of driver’s license will be invoked,” informed the RTO.

Meanwhile, the violations will be reported as cases through online mechanism of E-POS device. The verification of the case will be done at virtual court. The fine amount and penalty will be decided based on that, following which notice will be issued to the violator.
