Thiruvananthapuram: With the advent of the southwest monsoons in Kerala, isolated rains are expected to lash the state in the coming hours. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also forecasted isolated thundershowers in the coming days and sounded rain alerts in various districts.
An orange alert has been sounded in Kozhikode on Thursday. The district is expected to receive 115.6 to 204.4 millimetres of rainfall in 24 hours. A yellow alert has been issued in the districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Malappuram and Kannur.

Widespread rains lashed various parts of the state the other day. Following this, the IMD announced the arrival of monsoon in the state. Interestingly, monsoon has hit the state after a delay of more than a week.
