Monson's palm leaf manuscript describes Sabarimala ritual
Thrissur: The palm-leaf manuscript which Monson Mavunkal claimed to be the ‘thittooram’ (a royal missive) on the traditions of Sabarimala was in fact given to him by a native of Thrissur.
PN Gopalakrishna Menon, an antique dealer, said that he had handed over the manuscript to Santosh, another antique collector. Monson collected it from Santhosh later.
According to Gopalakrishnan, the manuscript describes the ceremonial fireworks at Sabarimala. He bought the manuscript from Thrissur Philatelic Club. After close inspection, it was revealed that the palm-leaf manuscript is very old and somehow related to Sabarimala. It also had a year inscribed on it, which indicates that it was 300-year old. He also pointed out that he is not sure whether the manuscript is an authentic one.
