Kochi: In a major development in the case pertaining to the alleged sexual assault of a minor girl by self-styled antique dealer Monson Mavunkal, the victim has reportedly come up with mental harassment allegations against doctors at Ernakulam Medical College.
The girl has alleged that the doctors locked up her in a room and threatened her during the visit for medical examination. The girl was reportedly asked why she went to Monson’s house. The incident happened on the day before the girl was produced before the court for recording her confidential statement. It is learnt that the girl came out of the room without recording a statement as a result of the mental harassment by the doctors.
Though she tried to file a complaint regarding this with Kalamassery Police station, she cancelled the plan due to the absence of women police officers. Notably, the victim was initially taken to Aluva Taluk Hospital for medical examination. But, she was taken to Ernakulam Medical College due to the absence of a gynaecologist.
The girl conveyed the ordeal to the magistrate in the court. The magistrate directed her to continue the medical examination at Ernakulam General Hospital.
Meanwhile, the doctors at Ernakulam Medical College refuted the allegations. According to them, they only asked a question related to the date of the sexual assault. They claimed that the girl called up her family member at that time and both along with police hurried for the examination. After that, they left the room, claimed the hospital authorities. They also added that they will file a case for obstructing their duty.
According to Kalamassery Police, both parties have not filed any complaint till October 29 evening.
Amid this, the court has sent Monson Mavunkal for three-day custody with the crime branch till October 30. The court pronounced the order as directed by Ernakulam Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate. Similarly, another sexual assault complaint against Monson has emerged from a former staff in his massage centre.
