Thiruvananthapuram: The fake antique collections of Monson Mavunkal, which he claimed as rare and precious historical pieces, were in fact bought from an antique dealer in Thiruvananthapuram. All the antiques in his collection are not older than 50 years and were used in the movies like ‘Ennu Ninte Moytheen’ and ‘Kayamkulam Kochunni’.
It was from Santhosh, a native of Ponganadu at Kilimanoor in Thiruvananthapuram, Monson bought all these items and Santhosh says Monson still has not paid him Rs 3 crores for the antiques he bought from him. Santhosh has already registered a case against Monson with the Crime Branch.
‘Moshayude Amshavadi’ (the staff of Moses), which Monson claimed was in possession with, is indeed a crutch that bought from a traditional ancestral family in Pattambi, Palakkad. The investigating officers are even wondered of the miraculous claims of Monson. The wooden crutch is just 50-year old and is unique with its sculptural beauty.
His claim of having the silver coins of Judas is also an utter lie. The investigating team has found that these coins were recovered through mining in the year 1940 from Eyyal and Valluvalli regions in Thrissur. These coins were also bought from Santhosh.
An old wooden pot (Uri) that he received from a house in Palakkad was claimed to be the ‘Uri’ used by Sri Krishna, a deity in Hinduism. The palm-leaf manuscripts, which Monson claimed as Panthalam king’s order on Sabarimala traditions, are in fact bought from Gopal, a native of Kokkale in Thrissur, in the year 2017.
Santhosh said, he was contacted by people from a private museum in UAE by seeing a media report about his antique and coin collection. “It was then, I realised the potential of antique collection and I started collecting antiques massively from across India with borrowed money. However, nothing had gone as planned and I had to go absconding. It was then Monson came up with helping hands as he assured buying my antiques worth Rs 3 crores. He did not pay me the prize of antique. After all, he cheated me Rs 30 lakhs by assuring me of providing money soon,” said Santhosh.
