Investigation against police officers related to Monson Mavunkal’s fraud case

A meeting of senior police officers was convened at the police headquarters last day. Consequently, the DGP gave the instruction to conduct an intelligence investigation against the police officers who helped Monson.

Thiruvananthapuram: Directions have been issued to begin investigation against the police officers related to Monson Mavunkal’s fraud case. The intelligence department will investigate the police officers who helped Monson. The police officers including IG Lakshmana, former DIG Surendran and Ernakulam ACP Lalji are under the radar over their connection with Monson Mavunkal.

Fraudster Monson Mavunkal’s ties with the police officers were revealed recently following his arrest. A meeting of senior police officers was convened at the police headquarters the other day. Consequently, the DGP gave instruction to conduct an intelligence probe against the police officers who helped Monson. Necessary action will be taken against the officers after the intelligence investigation report is received.

Reports have come out showing that Monson Mavunkal contacted senior ranked police officers several times to know the details about the cases filed against him. The police officers closely associated with him are said to have tipped Monson with the information that he was seeking. Monsoon is also said to have contacted certain officers from the Crime Branch. Monson started leaking information about the case details from the police officers after complaints against him started to pile up. He also filed four anticipatory bail petitions in the court after sensing the course of the investigation against him.

Many more complainants have raised their voices against Monson Mavunkal on Wednesday. The Managing Director of television channel TV Samskara, Babu Ummassery, accused that Monson has committed fraud in the name of the channel. He pointed out that the former MD of the channel, Hariprasad was his associate in committing the fraud. Monson had claimed to be the chairman of the Samskara channel. Babu Ummassery also accused that director Rajasenan has a part in the foul play. The channel officials have submitted a complaint to the DGP for misusing the channel name.

Mango Meadows owner, N K Kurian has also come forward claiming that Monson tried to cheat him. Monson Mavunkal supposedly informed Kurian that he would be willing to invest in Mango Meadows in 2012. He later pulled out from the deal saying that fund might be delayed. N K Kurian said in a Facebook post that Monson also sought Rs 8 lakhs from him to avoid the fund shortage.
