Kochi: Individuals who had filed fraud cases against Monson Mavungal has lodged yet another complaint alleging intimidation. The complainants Yakub Purayil, Anoop V Ahmed, MT Shamir and Shanimon Parappan received threatening messages after they filed a case against Monson for embezzling Rs 10 crore from them.
The complainants pointed out that threats were received via phone and through social media. According to the complaint, some strangers were also seen wandering suspiciously near their residence. Some friends and relatives are constantly influencing them to withdraw the complaint. Some complainants have also relocated due to these disturbances.
Meanwhile, actor Sreenivasan received a notice from lawyer of Anoop V Ahmed, in the context of the actor calling Anoop a “fraud” in a news interview. The notice seeks compensation of Rs 1.5 crore.
The court rejected Monson's bail application. Ernakulam CJM court had rejected the bail plea of Monson in the cases of defrauding six people of Rs 10 crore and embezzling Rs 1.62 crore from Rajiv, a native of Pala, assuring help in leasing 500 acres of a coffee plantation in Wayanad under the Madhya Pradesh government.
The crime branch requested that bail should not be granted to Monson as he could influence the witnesses and destroy evidence. The prosecution said Monson had forged several documents to defraud customers and made transactions worth crores through many accounts. The crime branch told the court that they are currently investigating these financial transactions.
The crime branch interrogation of Monson revealed that KPCC President K Sudhakaran had visited his house only for treatment.
