Mofiya Parveen suicide: Congress protest turns violent; police deploy water cannon, tear gas
Aluva: The protest organised by Ernakulam DCC in connection with the suicide of Mofiya Parveen in Aluva here on Thursday, turned violent after the police used force to evict the protestors who marched towards the Aluva SP office. The police used water cannons and tear gas shells. They blocked the protesters with barricades.
The protesters pelted stones on the police officers too. DCC president Muhammed Shiyas, MP Hibi Eden and other leaders took part in the protest. They alleged that the police is protecting Aluva CI Sudheer despite his alleged involvement in the suicide of Mofiya Parveen.
Earlier, the investigation report by Aluva DySP stated that there were no major lapses on CI Sudheer's part in handling the complaint filed by Mofiya Praveen before her death.
