Guruvayur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi completed the darshan at the Sri Krishna temple at Guruvayur. Modi who appeared in the traditional Kerala attire was received with a ‘Poorna Kumbham’ at the temple by the temple priests and devaswom officials.
Modi was accompanied by Devaswom Minister Kadakampally Surendran, Union Minister V Muraleedharan, and Kerala Governor Justice P Sathasivam and DGP Lokanath Behera.
Modi is visiting the temple for the second time. He performed ‘thulabharam’ with lotus flowers. Modi first visited in January 2008 when he was the chief minister of Gujrat.
Modi spent an hour in the temple as the Vishnu Sahasra Namam takes nearly an hour. Prime minister made offerings that cost Rs 40,000. Besides, thulabharam which costs Rs 22,000, Modi also offered ‘Kalabham Muzhukappu’, which costs Rs 9000, and another important ritual ‘Ahassu’ which costs Rs 3000, ‘Neyvilakku’ which costs Rs 1000 among others. Modi also offered ‘Kadhalikkula, Manjapattu and Neyy (ghee)’ among another popular offerings at the Sri Krishna temple.
After visiting the temple, Modi will inaugurate ‘Abhinandan Sammelan’, a public meeting at Sri Krishna school ground around 11.25 am. The Prime Minister will return to Kochi naval airport by 12.40 pm. He will take rest at the lounge there till 1.55 pm before leaving for New Delhi at 2 pm.
