Modest life or not, it is for individuals to decide: Kanam on row over specs
Thiruvananthapuram: Reacting to the row over the ‘expensive’ spectacles of Speaker P Sreeramakrishnan, CPI state Secretary Kanam Rajendran said it is not fair if the Speaker has violated rules by claiming reimbursement for Rs 50,000-worth specs.
However, there is nothing wrong if he is entitled for it, he added. Kanam further noted that he had never claimed reimbursement for the same despite being eligible for it. It is left to an individual to decide if he or she needs to lead a modest life, he said.
Responding to the row, Ministers E Chandrasekharan and V S Sunil Kumar said the controversy is unnecessary and that the Speaker claimed only what he is entitled to.
