The two models who died in the accident and the driver invloved
Kochi: In an important development related to the accident that lead to death of three people including former Miss Kerala and runner-up, the five-star hotel in Fort Kochi where they attended a party on the previous night, has been closed by the excise officials.
However, according to the excise officials, the closing down is not related to the accident case. The officials stated that the hotel was shut down after finding out that they sold liquor even after the permitted time on October 28 night.
Meanwhile, the police collected a hard disk of the CCTV footages from the hotel as part of investigation. As the hotel staff said that they do not know password of the hard disk, the police will seek help of technical experts.
Ansi Kabeer (24) from Thiruvananthapuram and Anjana Shajan (25) a Thrissur native, the winner and runner-up of the 2019 edition of Miss Kerala, were killed when their car reportedly swerved in a bid to avoid hitting a motorcyclist on November 1. Ashik (24) who was seriously injured in the accident, died on Sunday.
Abdul Rahman (25), who was driving the car, was arrested and booked under provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act and Indian Penal Code as he was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol.
All four of them had reached the hotel on October 31 evening. They reportedly reached there to celebrate Ashik’s farewell as he was parting to Qatar after getting a job. The accident happened while returning from the farewell party.
According to the police, Rahman who drove vehicle, suffered only minor injuries as he was wearing the seat belt and also due to the airbag. They added that result of his blood samples showed he was drunk at the time of the accident.
Rahman has been charged under both Section 185 of the Motor Vehicles Act (driving by a drunken person or by a person under the influence of drugs) and section 304 of IPC (Culpable homicide not amounting to murder).
