Mobile RT-PCR test labs in Kerala from Saturday; fee reduced to Rs 448
Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government has decided to increase the number of RT-PCR tests to detect COVID-19 infection.
As part of this, the government will establish more RT-PCR test mobile labs in association with a private firm. The mobile labs will start operation from Saturday onwards. It is learned that the government has given a tender to a private firm for establishing the mobile labs.
Rs 448 will be charged for RT-PCR tests in these mobile labs. The government hopes that more people will undergo the test once the test charge is reduced.
At present, private labs are charging Rs 1,700 for RT-PCR test per individual.
Meanwhile, the government has alerted that strict action including cancellation of the licence will be taken if any labs commit mistakes in the COVID test result. The test result should be issued within 24 hours.
The government also directed to cancel the license of the labs that delay the results.
