Mob attack against Walayar rape case accused
Palakkad: One of the accused in the Walayar rape case, was attacked by a mob here. The fourth accused in the case, Kuttimadhu aka M Madhu was attacked by a group of people at Attappallam on Saturday. He was admitted at a hospital here.
According to police, Madhu told them that he was attacked by some people over a verbal spat. Police who reached the spot on being informed, took him to hospital.
Yesterday, four accused in the rape and murder case of a veterinary doctor in Telangana, was killed in an encounter with police. The attack against Madhu comes after this incident. A probe has been launched into the incident.
Two sisters, the elder girl, 13, was found hanging at her home at Walayar in Palakkad district on January 13, 2017, while her nine-year-old sister was found dead in the same manner on March 4 that year. The post-mortem report revealed that the sisters were sexually assaulted.
A POCSO court here had acquitted the three accused for want of evidence a month ago. Two others were earlier let off among which one was found dead later. Protests and allegations had been raising all over Kerala and on social media against the negligence and lapses that occurred from part of the investigation officials.
