KK Rema, Suhaila
Onchiyam: Little did Suhaila, daughter of a fisherman and Azhiyoor native Kunjammad, know that the mistake in her birth certificate will pose a threat to her future studies. But a single phone call helped her to solve the issue.
Suhaila wished to become an Ayurveda doctor after completing her Plus Two. Unfortunately, she was denied a merit seat as the birth certificate marked her category as general instead of fishermen community and also the place of birth was wrongly marked as Mahe. When she realised that it is difficult to correct the mistakes on the certificate, she almost gave up her dream of studying. Amidst this, she remembered reading the news with the headline 'Vadakara MLA KK Rema will use ‘TP’s phone number ’.
She contacted KK Rema on the phone number mentioned in the news and sought help to solve the crisis in her life.
Suhaila informed the MLA that only three days left for admission and her family couldn’t afford to pay huge sums as her education fees. Things were sorted out after KK Rema talked to the department heads and officers.
Following this, a special order was issued correcting mistakes in Suhaila's birth certificate. Soon after this, Suhaila obtained admission to the Ayurveda college in Shornur with financial help from the Fisheries Department.
