Kozhikode: Deputy Leader of Opposition M K Muneer said that the state government called the health workers angels when there were only 50 COVID cases here and they have started robbing their money when the number of cases rose to 5000. Muneer also said in a Facebook post that though they are not honoured, the health workers need to be provided with a decent payment.

The government failed to study about the increasing rate of Covid transmission in health workers. It was pointed out in the assembly that sub-standard PPE kits and N-95 masks were purchased for high rate. No investigation was held into this and the minister only justified the act by quoting its quality, Muneer alleged in the FB post.

The government is acting cruelly to the employees. One month's salary was cut offering to refund it soon, but the finance minister is planning to cut the salary again secretly. This can't be justified. The government has to pay four instalments of outstanding DA amount, he said.

The MEDISEP announced by the previous UDF government was removed and salary revision delayed by an year. The staff and their families are in crisis. When they were willing to donate maximum to the Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF), the government continue to cut the salary, Muneer said.
