Missing woman's body in Kollam: Man who possessed her mobile phone taken into custody


Kollam: Police have taken a man into custody in connection to the suspected murder of a 32-year-old woman who was found in an abandoned railway housing quarters near Fatima Mata College here on Wednesday.

The man was found carrying the mobile phone of the woman during an inspection on New Year’s Eve by the Kottiyam police. When quizzed, he told police that the mobile phone was found it on the street. Police kept the phone and let the man go. Police later dialed a number from the phone and discovered that it belonged to the woman who went missing on December 29.

The man was taken into custody following the recovery of the body of the woman.

The Kottamkara native woman sustained two injuries to her body. She was found naked in a search based on information regarding a foul smell coming from the area. It is learnt that she was last seen at the beach. She sells door-to-door beauty products.

The mother of the deceased said that someone had answered her daughter's phone on the day she went missing. The phone was switched off later, she said.
