Missing newly married man found dead at Punalur
Kottayam: In a most cruel act, a newly married man who was abducted just a day after his marriage, was found dead at Chaliyekara in Punalur. The local people found Kevin's body on Monday morning. Police suspect it to be a case of murder.
Kevin, 26, went missing immediately after his wedding and it is alleged that the girl's relatives had abducted him along with his cousin brother on Sunday morning.
Though a complaint was lodged with the police by Kevin's wife Neenu, 20, it is alleged that there were lapses on the part of the police. Neenu said her brother and his gang had abducted her husband.
The DySP said that there were lapses on the part of the Gandhinagar SI in not taking action based on the complaint. If the complaint against the SI is found to be true, then he would have to face action, the DGP said.
It is learnt that police have not booked a case at the right time.
DGP Loknath Behera has asked for a report against the SI within an hour.
Neenu's brother returned from abroad a few days back and the Thenmala police seized the car used by him.
The body of Kevin bore severe injury marks.
Kevin was kidnapped after attacking his house allegedly for getting married with the girl he loved. A complaint was lodged with the police after Kevin was abducted from his house in Mannanam.
It is alleged that Kevin was abducted by a gang led by the girl’s brother. Kevin’s cousin Aneesh was also abducted along with him.
They were attacked throughout and taken to Punalur area.
Later, Aneesh was released by the gang.
Kevin and Pathanapuram native girl Neenu got married at the registrar office on Friday. The abduction comes in the time period of 30 days for validating the marriage.
