Kannur: Police have taken a person into custody for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy in an isolated house in Ayikkara here after giving ganja-filled beedi.
Sherif, a city resident, has been taken into custody. According to police, the boy’s neighbour Rashad is also part of the crime. However, Rashad is on the run and police have launched a manhunt.
Rashad obtained the boy’s phone number and gave it to a person in Ayikkara. Both are part of the ganja peddling gang, said police.
The duo later offered beedi to the boy and took him to an isolated house in Ayikkara, where the latter was sexually abused. According to police complaint, the duo took the boy to the isolated house multiple times. The incident came to light after the boy informed the ordeal to his family members.
Police nabbed the accused with the help of the boy’s relatives. They made the boy call the ganja gang members. When accused Sherif entered and locked himself in the isolated house, the police broke open the door and nabbed him.
