Kollam: General education minister V Sivankutty has ordered a probe into the controversial ‘welcome song’ performed at the inaugural ceremony of the 61st Kerala school state Kalolsavam.

He asked the Director of General Education to submit report in a week.

The song invited flak after it was noted that the performer played the role of a terrorist dressed up like a Muslim. The opposition had slammed the government. CPM Kozhikode district committee demanded a probe into the matter.

Though a committee screened the performance, it was discovered that the performers did not wear stage outfits. Matha Perambra, which performed the song, will be banned from future events of the education department, the minister said.
