Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala University has stated that KT Jaleel’s research degree is valid and issued as per guidelines. Complaints and allegations over this were handed over to the University Vice Chancellor by the Governor Arif Mohammad Khan. It found in the investigation conducted by the Vice Chancellor that the minister’s research degree was as per guidelines. The complaint had stated that KT Jaleel did not make any fundamental contribution in his thesis and an expert panel should review his thesis.
KT Jaleel secured his PhD degree in 2006 from Kerala University. The thesis was regarding the role of Ali Musaliyara and Variyamkunnath Kunjahammad Haji in the Malabar riots. The allegation raised against the thesis was that there wasn’t any contribution from Jaleel’s side and the thesis was filled with grammatical mistakes.
The complaint was filed by ‘Save University campaign’. The minister’s thesis caught the attention of the committee workers during the recent controversy surrounding the Malabar riots. The complaint was filed to the governor after they obtained the thesis through an RTI enquiry and studied it with the help of an expert panel.
