Minister G Sudhakaran slams Sooraj over Palarivattom flyover construction
Kochi: Minister G Sudhakaran came down heavily on former PWD secretary T O Sooraj who is under remand in connection with the Palarivattom flyover construction. The procedure of handing over funds before starting works in PWD is completely wrong, he said.
“I, myself have cancelled 24 orders of T O Sooraj. The Vigilance probe will continue independently,” he clarified.
On Thursday, Sooraj was presented before the Vigilance court as his remand period was to end. He repeated the same claims cited in the bail plea.
He said that the funds were preapproved with the knowledge of then PWD minister Ebrahim Kunju.
“The mobilization funds were granted without interest. I intervened to levy interest on the funds. There was nothing wrong in granting Rs 8.25 crore to the construction company RDS projects. The funds were given with the knowledge of then PWD minister Ebrahim Kunju,” Sooraj added.
Meanwhile, the court extended the judicial custody of the four arrested officials - the project director Sumit Goyal of RDS Projects, former Public Works Department Secretary T.O. Sooraj, Benny Paul who represented the KITCO and M.T. Thankachen from the Roads and Bridges Development Corporation, accused of graft in the construction of the Palarivattom flyover, till October 3.
