Thiruvananthapuram: Minister KN Balagopal had a narrow escape when the rear tyre of his official car burst and the vehicle veered off the road. The car lost control but nothing untoward happened as it was moving at a slow speed of 20 kmph.
The incident occurred on Friday night at Kuravankonam here. The vehicle stopped after skidding. The minister continued his journey in another vehicle. He was using an Innova car that had completed 2 lakh kilometres.
The Finance Ministry has reported the matter to the Tourism Department, which is responsible for the official vehicles of ministers. The Finance Ministry has informed the Tourism Department that the tyre along with the disc exploded due to the age of the vehicle.
