A K Balan
Thiruvananthapuram: Minister for Parliamentary Affairs A K Balan said that the opposition will be embarrassed after the no-confidence motion and they will end up being the laughing stock. He said this during a virtual interview with Mathrubhumi News. The minister's response came as the opposition will move a no-confidence motion against the government in the assembly on Monday.
There is no scope for a no-confidence motion in the Kerala assembly. Holding a 5-hour discussion in a non-air conditioned room for this purpose is also harmful for health. Majority of the people in the assembly are supposed to be in reverse quarantine. It was good for the UDF not to field a candidate in the Rajya Sabha election as there is no relevance for a competition, the minister said.
The LDF has a majority of two out of three votes. Even if the no-confidence motion is moved, the opposition will have to face a complete failure. Even the members who were with UDF in the last assembly session will not be with them this time and they will become more embarrassed, the minister made it clear.
The LDF can give tit-for-tat reply to every allegation raised by the opposition. As days pass, the allegations raised against the LDF are disappearing. The UDF is trying to use controversies for fake campaigns as they are sure of their failure in the upcoming elections, the minister alleged.
