Milma to set up milk powder manufacturing plants in the state

The milk powder factory is being set up in Malabar at a cost of Rs 53.93 crore. The factory will have a manufacturing capacity of 10 metric tonnes.

Thiruvananthapuram: Milma is mulling to open milk powder factories as Kerala has attained self-sufficiency in milk manufacturing. Minister K Raju stated that the milk powder manufacturing factory will be established in Malappuram district.

The minister stated that Kerala is no longer dependent on Tamil Nadu for extra milk required for the market. There has been a significant increase in the storage of milk this financial year.

Milma is venturing into milk powder manufacturing in order to tackle the crisis in the storage of extra milk. The milk powder factory is being set up in Malabar at a cost of Rs 53.93 crore. The move comes at a time where there is an excess production of 2.5 lakh litres of milk per day.

The factory will have a manufacturing capacity of 10 metric tonnes. Minister K Raju will lay the foundation stone of the manufacturing plant on February 9. The inauguration of the condensing plant in Wayanad will also take place on the same day.
