Chittalancheri: The Malabar region cooperative milk producer’s union will give dairy farmers additional payment of Rs 1. The move titled ‘Ksheeravidya’ is aimed at lending a helping hand to the farmers meet the educational expenses of their children in the new academic year.
The additional pay will be provided to milk procured in primary diary societies from March 1 to 31 in 2019.
The move will benefit dairy farmers in Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts that come under the Malabar regional union.
The quantity of milk procured in March will be taken into account and the additional amount will be paid to the farmers along with the payment for milk procured between May 11 and 20.
A grant of Rs 1.95 crore has been allotted to pay the farmers, said regional union administrator Pateel Suyog Subash Rao, and managing director Vijayakumar. The additional amount will be distributed to the farmers by June 10.
