Milma to increase milk price
Kochi: Kerala Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (Milma) decided to increase the milk price at a Director Board meeting held here today. However, the new price will be decided after consultation with the state government.
The decision comes in the wake of reduction in local milk production due to prevailing drought-like situation. The price of milk coming from Tamil Nadu and Karnataka has also increased.
Milma estimates a fall of 1 lakh litre in the local production. This will naturally lead to increase in the procurement of milk from Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. At present, the state is buying 3 lakh litres from its neighbouring states.
At present, Milma sells milk at prices varying from Rs 36 to Rs 40 per litre.
