Thiruvananthapuram: Milma Chairman K S Mani on Friday said that there has been no move from Milma’s side to increase the price of milk.

Milk costs Rs 3 lesser in Kerala than in Tamil Nadu. We plan to introduce various schemes to reduce the cost of production. Currently, the milk production in the Malabar region goes up to 8 lakh litres as there was a rise in the number of farmers by 37 per cent.

He informed that the Tetra Milk Plant in the Malabar region and the Icecream plant in Thiruvananthapuram have received grants. A total of 15.50 lakh litres of milk is being procured from three regions at present. Out of this, 14.25 lakh litres of milk is being sold.

The inauguration of state-level celebration on account of National Milk Day celebrated on the birth anniversary of the father of the white revolution, Dr Verghese Kurien, was held on Friday at the RDR auditorium in Edapazhanji.
