Migrant youth, thrown off moving train by friend following altercation, dies

Vadakara: A youth died after being pushed out of a moving train by his fellow passenger amidst a quarrel that broke out between them on Friday evening. An altercation that erupted among friends while travelling on the Kannur-Ernakulam Intercity Express ended in tragedy.

The deceased has been identified as Uttar Pradesh native Vivek. Police have recorded the arrest of Assam native Mufadur Islam who threw Vivek off from the running train. Both of them were employees at a private firm at Meenchanda in Kozhikode.

Following a verbal duel between the friends, Mufadur pushed Vivek out of the train when the train reached Kannookkara. The co-passengers, who witnessed this, caught Mufadur and handed him over to the railway police. He is currently in the custody of the Kozhikode railway police.

Vivek was found in a severely injured condition during a search carried out by the police and Railway Police Force as per the directions of the co-passengers. Though he was admitted to the Govt Medical College in Kozhikode, he succumbed to injuries while undertaking treatment.
