Perumbavoor: With DNA results confirming the involvement of the Assam native in custody, the police have been able to crack the Jisha murder case that sent shock waves across the country. As suspected earlier, a migrant labourer has turned out to be the culprit. Along with Amiyoor who was detained two days ago, his three friends are in the custody of the police. Their details are yet to be revealed.
Amiyoor was involved in the construction work of Jisha's house, and she had acquaintance with the worker. A CCTV installed in a fertiliser shop near Jisha's house had captured the visuals of this man walking along with Jisha on April 28, the day of the murder. Statements given by local residents and the footwear found from the crime scene turned to be crucial in the probe.
The investigation team had examined around 27 lakh phone conversations made by migrant labourers who were in Perumbavoor before the day of the murder. Conversations between Jisha and Amiyoor helped in the progress of the probe.
The investigation was widened to migrant workers considering the nature of wounds on Jisha's body. The workers in Perumbavoor include those who fled their respective states after committing various crimes. Besides, the crimes committed Assam natives are of particularly brutal nature, according to police.
Announcements regarding preparation of a databank of migrant workers in the state are yet to materialise.
