Kochi: As the Covid transmission is intensifying again in Kerala, the migrant workers here are hurrying to return home now recollecting the frightful memories of the lockdown last time. As there are very few trains, most of them depend on long distance buses to get back to their native places.

The National Health Mission officials are conducting awareness sessions among the labourers to pacify them. Meanwhile, the daily wage labourers do not have enough work. Those who wait at junctions for getting hired also do not get works.

There are attempts to make the migrant labourers panic by spreading messages like they should go home immediately as the Covid situation here is worsening. So, they should be convinced that everything is safe in order to gain confidence.

The National Health Mission conducts awareness session in order to teach them Covid preventive measures and to develop confidence to continue working here. The state government has made all arrangements to ensure a safe work environment here, the NHM stated in a message.
