Pathanamthitta: Police on Monday disbursed a group of migrant workers who had assembled at the CPM district committee office here demanding transportation to return to their natives. Around 60 migrant labourers residing in Kannankara gathered here and protested in the afternoon.
Though police tried to calm them down and spoke to them, they did not disburse. Following this, police had to forcefully remove them.
The labourers demanded that the district committee office of the rulling party should pressurize the government for arranging transportation facilities for their return. Other states have arranged buses apart from trains for migrant workers. Such an arrangement should be done here too, they demanded.
