Migrant labourers return to Kerala after polls
Aroor: Migrant workers who went to their native place to cast their votes ahve started to come back to Kerala. Construction works which were delayed due to the shortage of workers will be active within a few days. Most of the workers here are from Tamil Nadu, Bengal, Assam, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. The migrant workers are engaged in the works at sea product processing units, construction sites and retail shops.
Renovation works of coastal railway overbridge in Aroor was interrupted as the workers were on long leave. Though raw materials were collected for the work, the officials failed to proceed with the work and the materials were shifted to a store room.
Many migrant workers in Aroor and Ezhupunna panchayats are working at construction sites in Kochi. They have also started to return to work.
According to merchants and contractors, the employment sector in Kerala became active as migrant workers came back to work.
