Idukki: The Idukki district police on Sunday traced a 15-year-old girl, who was abducted by a migrant labourer under the guise of love, from a border village in West Bengal. The accused, identified as West Bengal native Suhail (23), was arrested by the police and brought to Kerala.
The Class 10 girl went missing from Thodupuzha, Idukki on April 22. Following which, her family lodged a missing complaint with the Thodupuzha police. On examining the call log of the girl’s phone, the police found out that she was repeatedly receiving calls from one number.
Following this, the officers, with the help of cyber police, tracked the tower location of the number. Further investigation led the officers to West Bengal and a team was sent on a flight to nab the accused and find the girl.
According to the police, Suhail is married and has children. He pretended to be in love with the girl and abducted her. The accused had been staying near to the girl’s house in Thodupuzha.
As of now, the accused has been booked under abduction charges. He was produced before the court and remanded.
