Microsoft to study about new media interactions of Kerala Police
Thiruvananthapuram: Microsoft Corporation is going to conduct a study on the new media interactions of the Kerala Police. The company selected Kerala Police as a sample of research from India to study about the use of new media for interactions with the public and its influence.
The Kerala Police was selected on the basis of its remarkable communication through Facebook. Also the huge public support gained by the Kerala Police for their communication through social media also will be subjected to the study.
The research will be conducted under Microsoft Research lab in Bengaluru. As part of the study, researcher Drupa Dinnie Charles communicated with the social media cell nodal officer IG Manoj Abraham and media cell officers in the police headquarters.
Recently, the Facebook page of Kerala police was found to have gained more popularity on Facebook than the pages of New York police and Queensland police. Also it is the most popular Facebook page among the police forces in India.
When Kerala Police sought help of the public through their page to gain one million likes by New Year, they received widespread support in the social media.
