Thiruvananthapuram: By holding a knife to the neck of a woman, two men robbed jewellery and money from her house at Karakkamandapam here on Sunday. The incident happened when the complainant Ramya Unnikrishnan was alone in her residence in the evening.
Two youths reached Ramya’s house asking for drinking water. Though she told them to have water from a tap outside, the youth demanded cold water. When she went inside to take water, the duo followed and subdued her. The men held her at knifepoint and robbed the gold jewellery that she was wearing. They also took away Rs 50,000 kept in a cupboard in the bedroom.
Ramya’s husband, who is a theatre staff, was in his workplace then. The suspects arrived soon after her son and mother-in-law went outside in the evening.
As per Ramya’s statement, the duo was holding a helmet and bag. They were conversing by mixing up Tamil and Malayalam languages, she noted.
