Meet the Kalari maestros who face election battle in Thrissur

Krishna Prathap Gurukkal who contest from ward 15 of Kadappuram panchayat and Anmol Mothi who contest from ward 21 of Chavakkad municipality are the Kalari experts in election fray.

Two candidates from the coastal region of Thrissur are confident that their talent in Kalari will help them win easily the election battle too. Krishna Prathap Gurukkal who is contesting from ward 15 of Kadappuram panchayat and Anmol Mothi who contest from ward 21 of Chavakkad municipality are the Kalari experts in the fray. Both are NDA candidates.

Krishna Prathap was a champion in state-level Kalari competitions for 5 years in a row. He also won a gold medal from the Kerala Kalarippayattu Association. Hailing from Chavakkad, he runs Parashurama Vallabhatta Kalari in Bengaluru.

Krishna Prathap has acted in Kalari-related scenes in various movies including Aram Thampuran, Narasimham, Valyettan, Kannada movies My Autograph, Pari and Kempegowda. He is also general secretary of Karnataka Kalarippayattu Association.

Krishna Prathap’s children Adithya Prathap and Aryan Prathap also are winners of National Kalarippayattu Championship. Anmol Mothi who has been practicing Kalari since the age of 5 has given training in the martial art for people within and outside the country.
