Accused Vineeth

Mangalapuram: Social media influencer Vineeth, who was popular for his ‘moustache reels’ on Instagram, and his associate Jithu were arrested for allegedly stealing Rs 2.5 lakh from the manager of a fuel station in Kaniyapuram. Earlier, Vineeth was booked in a rape case based on a complaint lodged by a college student.

The latest case was registered for robbing the collection cash from the manager of NIFI Fuels in Kaniyapuram on March 23. The incident happened when fuel station staff arrived at SBI to deposit cash. One of the accused hid behind a generator in front of the bank and fled after snatching the money from the manager. The other accused helped him to escape on a bike.

The accused had worn helmets during the theft and the bike had no number plate on it. The police identified the suspects after examining several CCTV footages and other evidence. The investigation team found that the bike used by the suspects was also robbed from Nagaroor.

Vineeth had used the cash robbed from the fuel station staff to buy a bullet bike and to settle his debt, reported police.

Currently, as many as 10 theft cases are charged against Vineeth, who is under bail after being jailed in the rape case.
