Kanhangad: Manjeswaram MLA MC Kamaruddin, who is in remand in connection with the Fashion Gold jewellery investment fraud case, on Thursday underwent angiography at Government Medical College Hospital in Kannur. Doctors said that the angiogram showed blockage in the blood vessel and the possibility of angioplasty can’t be ruled out. Final decision will be taken based in the report from medical board.
Kamaruddin, who was housed at the Kanhangad jail, was shifted to cardiac ICU at the medical college hospital after finding variations in the electrocardiogram. His angiogram was taken on Thursday morning.
The medical board attending to the MLA consists of medical college principal Dr KM Kuriakose, superintendent Dr K Sudeep, deputy superintendent Dr Manoj, cardiac expert Dr Asharaf and medicine department head Dr Ranjith Kumar.
At the same time, the hearing on the custody application submitted by Kannur Crime Branch DySP MV Pradeep was deferred to November 24. When the plea was considered at the Hosdurg first class magistrate court on Thursday, the lawyer appearing for the defendant Adv PK Chandrasekharan said Kamaruddin was in hospital ICU.
The MLA's bail plea in 25 cases will also be considered on the same day.
Meanwhile, Medical college hospital authorities said that health minister KK Shailaja called up the MLA over phone and enquired about his condition.
