Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala government is considering recommendations put forth by Administrative Reforms Commission (ARC). A 5-member committee will study the recommendation and submit a report in three months.

The committee is directed to classify the recommendations under the three categories: a) those to be implemented with immediate effect b) those to be implemented in the near future c) those require more deliberation.

The committee will also seek the help of management experts from IIM, Kozhikode. The recommendations include:

  • Shifting of Secretariat of new building
  • Reduction of bureaucratic levels
  • Efficiency-based promotions
It may be noted that the foundational stone of the present Secretariat was laid way back in 1865 and inaugurated in 1939. It was named Secretariat in 1949. ARC has recommended shifting the Secretariat to locations 5km away from the existing site.

The ARC was headed by former chief minister VS Achuthanandan.
