Thrissur: The Press Club here on Thursday announced the Achutha Warrier Awards instituted in memory of the famous journalist and former editor of Express daily TV Achutha Warrier. Mathrubhumi reporter KV Kala won the award for best editorial.

She bagged the award for her editorial titled ‘Samooha Adukalakal Vyapakamavatte’ which was published on December 2, 2021. Kozhikode Perambra native KV Kala is a reporter at Mathrubhumi’s Balussery bureau.

The award consists of a cash prize of Rs 10,001, a certificate, and a plaque. A jury comprising Kavumbayi Balakrishnan, Renu Ramanath and Babu Velappaya selected the awardees.

The awards will be distributed by Kerala Assembly Speaker MB Rajesh during a function in Thrissur Press Club Hall on August 28.
