Mathrubhumi International Festival of Letters: A feast for literature lovers
Thiruvananthapuram is set to host one of the largest and most significant literary festivals in India, Mathrubhumi International Festival of Letters, bringing together over 100 international and Indian writers, speakers and performers at the Kanakakkunnu Palace on Feb 2-4, 2018.
150 writers from four continents (Europe, Asia , Africa and Australia) will participate in the Mathrubhumi International Festival of Leters held at the historic Palace and Nishagandhi Auditorium. The event will be spread across the heritage property’s sprawling compound with a number of related activities like book releases, book-signing sessions and readings.
Writers from Australia, Bangladesh, Germany, Ghana, India, Kenya, Malaysia, Pakistan, Russia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, UAE, UK and Ukraine will conduct readings and recitals besides participating in meaningful debates and dialogues on a multitude of topics.
Apart from high-profile conversations, choreographed reading sessions, augmented reality sessions and impromptu performances, there will be workshops by masters and an exploration of traditional Kerala cuisine. Besides serving as an annual platform for the best in Malayalam, Indian and world literature, MBIFL will tap into Kerala’s young and new talent, helping the young and aspiring writers rub shoulders with masters.
Muhammed Haneef, Sabin Javeri (Pakistan), Numair Chaudhary (Bangladesh), Mihir Bose , Eric Akoto (UK), Andrey Kurkov (Ukraine), Ashok Ferrey (Sri Lanka), Felicia Yap(Malaysia), Ayesha Harruna Attah (Ghana), and Bejoya Chaul (Australia) are some of the foreign writers who will participate in the Festival.
How to participate?
Prior registration is required to participate in Mathrubhumi Mathrubhumi International Festival of Letters. The registration fees for one day is Rs 100. The registration fee is Rs 250 for those who register for three days together. Admission is free for students upto Plus Two level. An ID card of the school or the letter from the principal should be produced by the student. The registration is through online(www.mbifl.com). There will be live registration also.
