Perumbavoor: In a tragic incident, three students drowned in an abandoned quarry pit filled with water at Pettamala in Vengola here on Wednesday.
The deceased have been identified as Vinayakan, Shravan and Abhijith, natives of Kalamassery.
The incident happened when the four-member team of students went to the place to take bath. While locals rescued Akshay who was one among the gang, another student Abhijith had gone missing. Abhijith's body was recovered by Wednesday evening.
The quarry was lying abandoned for a long time. The pit was filled with water due to the incessant rains for the past few days.
