
Shornur: The body of one of the MBBS students who had drowned in the Bharathapuzha river has been recovered. The deceased has been identified as Mathew Abraham (22), son of Chelakkara native Baby and Preema.
The villagers recovered the body by 7.30 in the morning near the Mannanur check dam. The body was taken to the Shornur railway bridge area and then shifted to the hospital. The body that was taken to his home by noon was laid to rest at St. Mary's Forane Church cemetery in Chelakkara.
Mathew Abraham and his friends who are MBBS students at a private medical college in Vaniyamkulam went to Bharathappuzha at around 5.30 in the evening on Sunday. Mathew was washed away by the current as he was stepping into the river. His body was recovered after two days of search.
The search for the body of Ambalapuzha native Gautham Krishna, who went missing with Mathew, is still underway.
