Maradu flats: Two former panchayat members summoned for questioning
Kochi: Investigation into irregularities in construction of the controversial apartment complexes in Maradu, which the SC ordered to be demolished, is leading to former panchayat members.
The crime branch has asked two persons, who were governing committee members of Maradu panchayat in 2005, to appear before it for questioning. They are Bhaskaran and Raju, who represented CPM.
There were allegations of political conspiracy behind the construction of apartments in Maradu. The crime branch has decided to investigate such allegations.
The government officials had clarified that the Maradu panchayat had passed an ordinance to grant approval for constructions without considering the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) rules. Government officials said that their action was based on the panchayat order.
