Maradu Flats to be handed over to companies for demolition
Kochi: Actions prior to the demolition of Maradu flats have begun. The companies carrying out the demolition have been sent selection notice. The site will be handed over to the companies with the contract after issuing the work order.
The contract will include matters relating to insurance for the people residing in the neighbourhood. The authorities had assured insurance protection to the neighbours despite the companies affirming that no damage would happen to the neighbourhood properties. The 2 towers of Alpha Serene will be demolished by Chennai-based Vijay steels, whereas Edifice engineers from Mumbai will demolish Holy Faith H2O, Jain Coral Cove and Golden Kayaloram. The workers of the respective companies have reached the site and the demolition will start once the contract is signed.
The expert committee of the government has asked the companies to submit a detailed report of the blast plan within 10 days. The report is expected to be submitted for approval next week. The committee has also asked for a report on the safety plan. Demolition expert Sharath B Sarwate is expected to return to Kerala from Indore on the 28 of this month.
