Maradu flats: Officials ask inmates to vacate voluntarily
Kochi: Officials began procedures to evict the dwellers of the three apartment complexes in Maradu in view of demolition. However, sub-collector Snehil Kumar said that no one will be evicted from the apartments by force.
Snehil Kumar also assured them to consider the request of restoring power supply and other necessary services like elevator and the like.
Municipality officials will visit the flat dwellers in person to evacuate them. The demand of owners to allow more time for evacuation will be discussed. However, extension of date won’t exceed October 3. The present situation will be convinced to the owners after meeting them directly, said Snehil Kumar after holding meeting with Maradu municipality.
Flat owners demanded that a place for the flat dwellers should be arranged by the municipality and rent shall be paid by the government. Flat owners also asserted that they won’t leave the apartments until they get the first payment of compensation.
Demands also mounted on the officials to reveal the place of accommodation for them. Places within three kilometres limit from the demolishing flats wont’ be accepted owing to health issues from demolition. A minimum period of one month should be allowed for shifting, said the owners.
